Excellent tour, personable service

Reviewed May 2017

My buddy and I traveled to NZ on a hunting trip in April. We had a few days in Auckland both prior to and after hunting the South Island. We arranged for Ian and Fleur to handle our multiple transfers to/from the airport to Auckland CBD. Over the course of our trip and the transfers, we rode with both Ian and Fleur. Great people…super personable, great conversationalists, and on-time. Their vehicles were top notch and comfortable.

The best experience was the tour we had on our last full day in NZ. Ian gave us the equivalent of a chef’s tour…we saw some great sites on the North Island and had a late lunch with Ian to cap it off. I wish I could find an original way to describe Ian, however, the other reviewers here nailed it as well as anything: It was like taking a tour with an old friend. Ian’s knowledge of NZ and the sights coupled with his personality made the day very memorable.
On our last transfer to the airport, we asked to stop at One Tree Hill and Fleur happily took us. Her commentary on the history of the park as well as on the scenic backroads to the airport made it a great last experience in NZ.
I would highly recommend these guys – for transfer and/or tours. Great people.

Personal service by a friend

We had a wonderful time with Ian and Fleur. They were so friendly, it was like we had known them for a long time. Our friend Barbara had recommended Twin Harbours, so we were with them on our first 2 days in Auckland. Fleur was so knowledgeable about everything, no question was too much, and she showed us places we would never have been able to see in Southern Auckland. Ian showed us the lovely beaches and towns on the coast on Northern Aukland the second day. As we are sailors, he also took us to his outstanding yacht club. We were very impressed by their professional, but very kind service and recommend them both very highly.

Great Tour

Husband and I took the 5 hour tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw beaches, small towns, and all the sights you could want to see. The price was very reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend this tour

Like seeing the city with a friend

I arranged for a three-hour layover tour on my way back home from Australia to the U.S. Fleur met me at the airport and managed to tell and show me a lot about New Zealand’s natural beauty and history despite wet, dark and rainy conditions. Fleur is very knowledgeable, easy to talk with and answered any and all questions I had about the country. I appreciated her positive attitude even though the weather left much to be desired. Would recommend this tour company to friends and family.

Friendly and personalized service

Ian was a wealth of information while providing a private group tour of Auckland and environs; he was flexible to accommodate the needs of the group while offering recommendations based on his knowledge and experience. The long day trip to Rotorua was outstanding, affording both beautiful countryside and learning about Maori history and culture. The glowworm caves are a must-do. Thanks Ian for a wonderful time and fond memories of our trip.

Great sight seeing

Fleur picked us up near airport and gave us a great tour of Auckland and surrounding area. We saw some scenic beaches and country that our packaged tour didn’t include. We discovered a great restaurant out in wine country, good food and view. Can’t remember it’s name but I’m sure Fleur does. Definitely the way to go if you have some extra time. Pat, Phil & gang.

Terrific tour guide

Ian picked us up at the Auckland airport from our very early morning flight. From the very beginning he was welcoming and willing to do the little extras to make us feel comfortable after the long flight. We wanted to see the Auckland area but also get out and walk around so that we could adjust to the time change from the USA. Ian put together a perfect itinerary that drove us through beautiful countryside but also let us get out and see the beaches and parks and views of the city. We stopped at a cute place for lunch and he helped us with the customs on how to split dining bills (which came in handy again and again on our trip) and how tipping was not customary in restaurants. He was so open and informative about New Zealand and the changes he has seen. He answered all our questions no matter how unusual the subject. Ian was a very safe driver as reinforced during the rainstorm we encountered. I would highly recommend Ian and Twin Harbours Tours.

We too, arrived very early in Auckland and were looking for something to do while waiting to check in to our hotel. We were met at the airport by Fleur and spent the next 6 hours being treated to a great tour, feeling like a friend was showing us around. Very personal tour by someone who is clearly enjoys where she lives and what she does. We too, met her parents (and the group mentioned in the earlier post). My husband, being an outdoor enthusiast especially like the added botany information 🙂

I was traveling with a group of 7 friends. We were arriving on an early morning flight (6:00 am!) from the U.S. Since we wouldn’t be able to check in to our hotel until 2:00 pm, we had several hours to kill. I did some research and found Ian and Twin Harbor Tours on TripAdvisor.

I contacted Ian to enquire about an airport pickup with a half-day tour of Auckland. He was extremely responsive, even to my very detailed questions. We ended up booking with him at a very reasonable rate, not only for the airport pickup and half day tour, but also for a full day excursion the next day to Waitomo and Rotorua.

Ian hired a comfortable van that was big enough for all of us and our luggage. He was very accommodating – we were able to stop for a coffee and at an ATM before heading out on our tour of the Auckland area.

We’re a very inquisitive lot, and Ian was able to answer our questions about not only the sights, but political, economic and social issues as well. In fact, he had done some research on some of our questions and came prepared with those answers on our excursion the next day.

Ian is very personable, and during our lunch stop in Auckland we met his wife and daughter (who are also involved in business). . We had a really great time, and I would totally recommend Ian and Twin Harbor Tours and would totally hire him again should I have the opportunity to visit Auckland in the future.

Exploring new route with Ian

Reviewed 5 April 2015

Ian picked us at the airport the first day and then spent the next two days showing us Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, Raglan (new route), North Shore, Piha and Auckland vicinity. He even showed us where he lives, his boat parked at the wharf and went with us into the gloworms caves. We thoroughly enjoyed his stories, sense of humor, and his company. It’s like spending a couple of days with an old friend who is proud to show you his country. He drove us around in his Mercedes 10-12 hours per day and was a very safe driver.

Great tour of Auckland

Reviewed 6 January 2015

Saw Twin Harbours Tours on Tripadvisor, read the reviews and booked. Perfect tour for the end of a cruise, saw so much of this beautiful city from the luxury and comfort of a limousine. Our driver, Fleur, picked us up from Princess Wharf showing us all the sights with informed and personal commentary, giving us a sense of what living in beautiful Auckland is like.

A totally enjoyable and fascinating experience, cannot recommend highly enough!

From a tour in January 2015

Just wanted to drop a quick email with update about yesterday’s tour with Fleur.  We had the most outstanding day with her, she was so informative and showed us the most beautiful places. Her patience and service was outstanding. What a lovely, soft spoken lady with so many interesting stories. We appreciated the experience immensely.

The Perfect Start

My wife Liz and I arrived at Auckland tired after our three flights from Bermuda on my birthday in January, but we were soon cheered up when waiting for us at arrivals was Ian Bourgeois, the owner of Twin Harbours Tours and Transfers. With a big smile and friendly welcome he ushered us to his large white limo and we were off to our hotel in the city. No more stress as we sat back and listened to Ian tell us all about the city he loves. Immediately we felt that we had known him for years yet we had only discovered his website a few days before leaving home whilst googling for daytours from Auckland. We were attracted by his offer of a four hour tour of city, east coast and west coast with personal service and airport pickup. The price was fair and better value than the bus tours. So the next day Ian collected us from our hotel and gave us a lovely drive around Auckland and the beautiful New Zealand countryside. I insisted on seeing Piha beach and the Lion Rock -no problem. Ian took us wherever we wanted and told us so much about the area. What a great ambassador. The four hour trip became six hours in no time and we were delivered back to our hotel relaxed and happy. For us this was the perfect start to our vacation. Thank you Ian.
